Tent Buying Tips

  • It is wise to choose a tent that is a little larger than you think you might need. All too often, campers find that they have soon out-grown their tent and are faced with the cost of change. This is especially important for young and growing families.
  • It is more important to choose a tent that fits your family rather than your car boot space. After all, a roof luggage box or small trailer will solve the car space problem but a tent that is too small for your family can spoil your holiday.
  • Cheap almost always means inferior. Inferior almost always means disappointment. Therefore, it is always smarter, and cheaper in the long run, to buy a good quality tent.
  • How to cope with erecting a tent can be a daunting prospect for new and inexperienced family campers, and that is why they are often attracted to quickly-erected tents, made in lightweight materials. Be very careful, however, because many such tents are not really suitable for family camping where weather protection and stability in adverse conditions are the vital factors. After all, nothing is more disconcerting, especially for young families, than a tent that sways significantly in windy conditions or leaks during a storm. Far better to choose a tent that is stable in the wind, and offers good protection in inclement weather - even if it does take 20-30 minutes to erect.
  • Buy your tent from a specialist dealer. A few pounds saved by buying from bargain basements or multiples may soon be lost when you need good advice, optional accessories, spares and repairs.
  • For further advice and expert help, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. Better still, come and visit our shop, talk to the experts, and have a closer look around our large display site and store.
